Why it works

The 22 cm opening gives two hands room to toss leaves or grains and lets food be served from several sides without pushing ingredients over the rim. At 4.8 cm high, the bowl contains dressing, sauce and toppings while keeping the meal visible. Its approximately 13 cm ring foot and 683 g body settle the piece during mixing and when it reaches the table. Yunhuang’s cream glaze, fine speckling and caramel rim make a quiet background for food rather than an extra decoration. OrienX reads this as holding without enclosing: a contemporary brand interpretation, not a claim of historic origin.

Material & making

Glazed ceramic with a finely speckled cream tone and caramel-colored rim. Firing can create subtle differences in glaze tone or surface from one piece to another.

OrienX inspiration

Inspiration comes from the relationships formed around a shared table in Eastern dining culture. The open rim is imagined as an unfolding courtyard, giving food, cutlery and everyone at the table room to move; the gently narrowing wall draws on negative space in ink painting to balance generosity with restraint. OrienX translates the idea of contain without closing into a serving bowl for contemporary daily life. This is a brand design interpretation, not a reproduction of a historical vessel.
